STELLARTON - Catherine Joan Cooper, 77, Kensington Ave., Stellarton, passed away March 4, 2007, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Stellarton, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Chikness. Catherine was a resident of Toronto for almost 55 years before moving back to Stellarton four years ago, she worked for the Government of Ontario until retirement. She is survived by her son, Fred (Paulie) Cooper, Stellarton; daughter, Linda (Billy) Works, Stellarton; grandson, Fred Cooper Jr., Stellarton; granddaughters: Angela Works, Lori (Jack) Lannon, Stellarton; Jennifer Cooper, New Glasgow; sisters: Camella (Raymond) Jordan, Riverton; Helen (Wade) Smith, Hopewell; Alyce Frosst, Stellarton; Theresa (John) Farrell, Pine Tree; brother, John (Hazel) Chikness, Stellarton; Earl (Dianne) Shakness, Westville Rd.; William Chikness, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred; sisters, Ruth Baudoux, Margaret Mabey, brother, Jimmy Shakness. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, cremation will follow with a graveside service held 11a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, in Brookside Cemetery with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
