Daniel Francis "Frank" Mason

Date de décès : 10 décembre 2007

RIVERTON – It is with great sadness and regret that we announce his passing at Valley View Villa, Riverton, Pictou County, on December 10, 2007, in the presence of his family. Frank was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church and a dedicated member of the choir. He loved to sing and was a true lover of music. He was a loyal man who dearly loved his family and took great pride in all their accomplishments. He was an ardent walker and refused many a drive by neighbours and friends who often took an alternate route so as not to pass him on the road. He was a good friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late John and Catherine (MacKenzie) Mason. Other than the last three years spent first at Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche, then Valley View Villa, Riverton, where he quickly endeared himself to all the staff, he lived most of his life on St. Joseph’s Street in Lourdes and on Big Island, a place very dear to his heart. He was a Millwright by trade and was much sought after for his precision work. Before retirement, he was employed by Trenton Works and in later years by Maritime Steel. Frank is survived by his wife, the former Bunny (MacKinnon); daughters, Linda, Toronto; Donna (Chester) McMullen, Hardwood Lands; sons, John (Donna), Ottawa; Michael at home; grandchildren: Lisa Molnar, Dan, Annalise and Darren McMullen, Sarah, Aaron, Ryan and Sabrina Mason and Bernadette (Don) Greer; great-grandchildren: Jordan and MacKenzie Robertson, Lorien McMullen, Nikki and Ryan Greer; sisters: Marie Robeson, Merigomish; Kathleen Gratto, Kingston, Ont; and Agnes Mason, Riverton; sister-in-law, Beatrice Mason, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Charlie; brothers, Norbert, Leonard; sisters, Anna (MacGillivray) and Stella Mason. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with parish priest, Father Peter MacDonald, and Father Andrew Rembarczyk, parish priest at St. Bridget’s Parish, Shubenacadie, officiating. Burial of ashes to follow in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Family flowers only. If desired, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Pictou County Help Line, Valley View Villa or to a charity of one’s choice.
