Dorothy Mae (Pitts) Ward, 70 of MacPherson’s Mills, passed away Sunday, December 2nd, 2007, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Lillian (Davidson) Pitts. Dorothy resided in Stellarton most of her life. She owned and operated Safeway Taxi for a number of years and also worked as a dispatcher for Jim’s Taxi for 27 years. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28, Ladies Auxiliary, Stellarton. She is survived by sons: Leonard Jr. (Heather), Stellarton; Robert (Wanda), Stellarton; Joseph (Mary), New Glasgow; special daughter-in-law, Susan Ward, MacPherson’s Mills; brother, Donald Pitts, Ottawa; sisters: Marion Burns, Trenton; Patricia Flemming,Westville; Jean Ward-Green, Stellarton; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Leonard Ward Sr.; daughter, Ruthann in infancy; brothers, Daniel and Robert Pitts and sister, Loretta Burns. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Our Lady Of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
