TONEY RIVER - Drucella Norene (Hislop) Langille, 87, of Toney River, passed away peacefully March 17, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Rockfield, and later living in Elmfield, she was one of twelve daughters of the late George and Agnes (Carson) Hislop. Known to many as Dru or Drucie, she resided in Toney River for most of her adult life, and touched in some way nearly all of its residents. Dru was a hard working farmer's wife and one of her highlights each summer was to see her fields being used. A talented and avid quilt maker she used her many dozens of quilts and baby blankets to show her love, appreciation, and gratitude to her many family members and countless friends. Drucie was also an important part of cottage life in Toney River, supplying eggs, butter, and baked goods, especially her ginger snaps that she cooked to each individual's taste, all the while forming friendships that have lasted many decades. Many will miss her and her kindness. Surviving are sisters: Margaret Henderson, Pictou; Ethel Sutherland, New Glasgow; Zelda (Jack) Hansford, Yarmouth; Gladys Langille, Scotsburn; Vesta Hislop, Scotsburn; close family friends, Robert and Leanne MacKay, Toney River; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Munro Langille; sisters: Annie MacCara, Georgie Beckwith, Irene Hislop, Ella Neath, Charlotte MacLeod, Janie Henderson. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Rev. Jeanette Fleischer and Mrs. Jacquie Ross officiating. Burial will be in Riverbank Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of your choice.
