GREENWOOD – Edith Cavell Fraser, 88, of Greenwood, Pictou County passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late David and Catherine (MacKay) Johnstone. Edith was a lifelong resident of Thorburn. She was a retired employee of Riverview Home, Riverton. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Friendship Group in Thorburn. Edith is survived by daughters, Kathryn (Ian) Campbell, New Glasgow; Sylvia Cameron (Bill Young), Abercrombie; Annie (Tim) Garrison, MacLennan’s Mountain Road; son, Donald (Laurie) Fraser, New Glasgow; grandchildren: Lawrence, Christal, Clinton, Brandon, Aaron, Adam, Chad, Amanda, Donnie Jr. and Justin; step-grandchildren, Chad and Billy; great grandchildren: Kyle, Mark, Anderson and Preston; step-great grandchild, Jessie; sister, Annie Henderson, Thorburn; niece, Marion Montgomery, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. She was predeceased by brothers: Fred, Irving, Edwin, Donald and Fraser; and sister, Margaret. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday in the H. W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Edith may be made to the Nova Scotia Diabetic Association, Union Presbyterian Church or a charity of one’s choice.
