STELLARTON – Francis Robert Fitt, age 59 of 28 Marie Street, Stellarton, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Sylvester (Vester) and Catherine (Kay) (Pellerine) Fitt. Francis was a lifelong resident of Lourdes and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. For over 20 years Francis was in charge of maintenance for Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and could always be found with a friendly smile ready to help anyone. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Francis will be remembered as a devoted family man which he cherished, and always put others before himself. Surviving are his wife, the former Marilyn DeYoung; sons: Shawn (Ann), Stellarton; Scott (Belinda), Sylvester; Shane, Calgary; daughter, Saucha, at home; grandchildren, Dakota and Ainslie; brother, Cyril (Ida) Fitt, Stellarton; sisters: Marie (Allister) Vacheresse, Stellarton; Evelina (Peter) Cripps, Westville; Kathy (Wayne) Otter, Trenton; a number of nieces and nephews Francis was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Clarence; mother-in-law, Chris DeYoung; and brother-in-law, Doane DeYoung. His remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, for visitation from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Cremation to follow with burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Francis may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or to the VON.
