Wilber Charles Dyke
Born in Safe Harbour, Bonavista Bay in 1945 and grew up in Portugal Cove, passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family on Friday, May 23, 2008 at Hoyles Home (North 1) where he has been a resident since January 2007 as a result of a brain injury. Wilber lived a full and complete life and will be forever missed. Wilber was pre-deceased by his parents, Carman and Ella Dyke, and he leaves to mourn his soul mate Lorraine, loving wife of almost 39 years; daughter Robyn Doyle (Garrett) from England and son Marc (Angie) of St. John's; three wonderful grandsons, Devlin, Finlay and Jared Doyle; brothers, Truman (Patsy) and Jim (Sandy); sisters, June Penney (Howard), Roxanne Blackmore (Gary), Bernice Miller (Gerry) and Michelle O'Reilly (Gerry). Wilber will also be missed by his devoted mother-in-law, Mildred Hammond; his brother-in-law, Jim Hammond; several nieces and nephews; his aunt, Wilhelmina Miller (Wilfred); lifelong friend Sterling Kean and several other special friends. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Barrett's Funeral Home Chapel, inurnment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
