NEW GLASGOW/THORBURN - Gertrude Auld, 102, New Glasgow, formerly of Thorburn, passed away March 31, 2007, in the Valley View Villa. Born in Meiklefield, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence (Stewart) MacInnis. She was an adherent of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. She loved music, dancing and Sunday drives. Gertrude was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters: Pearl Munro, Thorburn; Jean Fraser, New Glasgow; Vera (Mike) Pettipas, Thorburn; and Betty-Lou Semple, New Glasgow; sons, Fred (Sybil), Thorburn; Frances (Muriel), Parry Sound, Ontario; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William, son, Raymond, son-in-laws, George Munro, Bill Fraser and Barry Semple; brother, Fred MacInnis. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Gertrude may be made to a charity of your choice.
