TRENTON - Gilbert Carl "Gib" Hiscott, age 85, of Duke Street, Trenton, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Harry Hiscott and Sarah Margaret (MacDonald) (Hiscott) MacQueen. He was a retired baker having owned and operated the O.K. Bakery in Stellarton for many years. He served with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War. He attended First United Church, Trenton, and was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge No. 91; Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29; Royal Canadian Air Force Club; Admiral Murray Royal Canadian Naval Association. An avid bowler, he played throughout the Maritimes. He is survived by daughters: Diane (David) Hamilton, Summerside, PEI; Judy (Dennis), Calgary; Pearl, Halifax; sons: Jim (Cathy), Dartmouth; Brian (Janet), New Glasgow; Sandy, Calgary; grandchildren: Lori (Mike); Scott; Shawn (Krista); Peter; Melissa (Bert); Greg; Ashley; great-grandchildren: Quincy; Cash; Ethan; brother, Glayne (Anne) MacQueen, Front Lake, Cape Breton; step-children: Jane (John) Marshall, MacLellan's Brook; Brenda (Gordon) MacDonald, Trenton and their families; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend: Aileen Wolfe; caregivers, Bernadette Osmond and Pamela Francis. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marguerite (Murray); and second wife, Anna Mae (Rice) (MacDonald). Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday in the First United Church, Trenton, with Rev. Debra Orton, Rev. David Hamilton and Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Burial will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou County V.O.N. or a charity of choice. Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Trenton and the Admiral Murray Royal Canadian Naval Association will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Sunday to conduct their service.
