LYONS BROOK - Gordon Harold Robertson, 89, Lyons Brook, son of the late Joseph and Mariam (Heughan) Robertson passed away at the Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, July 12, 2007. Born August 21, 1917, in Central Caribou, he was employed as a cabinet maker for many years at Ferguson Industries, Pictou. As a younger man he was goaltender for the Caribou hockey team and maintained a lifelong passion for hockey, physical fitness and outdoor activities. For decades, Gordon played harmonica and autoharp with the Vernie Rankin Band at old time dances. He is survived by his sister Pauline (Malcolm) McLean, Metcalf, ON; brother, Douglas (Marjorie), Lyons Brook; brother-in-law, Morris Langille, Pictou; many nieces and nephews and "special family": Jonathan, Erin, Alastair and Alison Mackay. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Thelma; brothers: James, Alonzo, Allison, Roy and Smith; sisters: Elizabeth, Marion, Zeta, Jean, Eleanor, Isabel, Della, Muriel and Doris. No funeral by request. Graveside committal service at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA or the Alzheimer Society. Gordon will be remembered as a solid citizen, a loyal friend and a good neighbour. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
