Harold James Leslie “Joe” Jardine, 71, of New Glasgow. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and friend on December 31st, 2007, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dad was born in Eureka, NS, on January 31st, 1936. He was the son of the late McRae and Gladys (Scott) Jardine. He was a former employee of Silver Woods Dairy, Toronto, and later retired from Scott Paper Maritimes, Abercrombie. Dad was a loving father, grandfather and caring friend to many, who was loved by all. His family, many friends and neighbours could always count on his neverending generosity and kindness. He will be sadly missed by us all. He is survived by his son, Derek Jardine, New Glasgow, daughters, Donna Jardine, and Dara (Reg) Luce, both of Eastern Passage, grandchildren: Graham, Libby, Kyle, Kolton, Liam and Skylar, who will always remember him as their “Gump”. As well as our mother, Jeannie Jardine, Abercrombie; several nieces, nephews and his two old buddies, One-Eye and Pretty-Boy. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Ann Riggs, and his two brothers, Frank and Scott. Cremation has taken place. Following his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A public committal service to celebrate Dad’s life will be held at a later date at the Riverton Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dad may be made to a charity of one’s choice. “Our lives are better left to chance, I could have missed the pain, but I’d have had to miss the dance.”
