Helen May MacLennan, (84), East River St. Mary's, died Monday, August 13, 2007, in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Isaac's Harbour, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Chester Ward and Lettie Patricia (Clyburne) Langley. In earlier years, Helen worked as a cook in the lumber camps in Gunn Lake. A loving companion, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen was a full time homemaker and her life revolved around her children and her family. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed fiddle music and visits from family and friends. Helen's family will always be warmed by the many quilts she lovingly made throughout her life. She is survived by loving companion, Bryce Jack, East River St. Mary's; sons: Johnny, Goldboro; Freddy, Halifax; Paul (Marie), Aspen; Alex (Nancy), Country Harbour; Jimmy (Dana), Sylvester; Rollie (Peggie), New Glasgow; daughters: Patricia "Pat" (Borden) Rhuland, Lunenburg; Jennie (Wilfred) Sponagle, Country Harbour; Darlene MacLennan, Willowdale; Irene (Bruce) Shaw, East River St. Mary's; brothers: Lornie (Doris), Country Harbour; Seymour (Elsie), Isaac's Harbour; Rollie (Ella), Country Harbour; Reggie (Darlene), Isaac's Harbour; sisters: Lillian Henderson, Antigonish; Adeline Smith, Margaret (James) Byrne, both of Mass., USA; Winnie (Wesley) Clevisy, Dartmouth; 22 grandchildren; special granddaughter, Tanya MacLennan; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Kevin, Billy in infancy; son-in-law, Doug Doucet; daughter-in-law, Marion (Sponagle) MacLennan; brothers, James, Everett; sister, Chris Matheson; granddaughter, Stephanie MacLennan. Visitation will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour. Funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. in Isaac's Harbour Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial in Isaac's Harbour Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
