Trenton - Ida Sylvia (Dillman) Laffin, age 86, of Forge St., Trenton, passed away Monday, July 2, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born September 10, 1920, in Oldham, NS, she was a daughter of the late Fairbanks and Margaret (Reynolds) Dillman. She was a retired employee of Zellers Ltd. She was a member of the Steeltown Friendly Group and was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34 New Glasgow. She was predeceased by her first husband, Reg Sinclair, second husband John Laffin, sisters, Evelyn Munroe and Violet Keddy. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Chester) Melanson, Clearwater, Florida; grandchildren: Reg (Sonia) Hingley, Toronto; Heather (Robert) Vasko, Winnipeg; Susanne Hingley, Whitehorse, Yukon; Chester (Amanda) Melanson, Brandon, Florida; great-grandson, John Vincent Stephan Hingley; sisters: Jean (Skip) Fraser, Trenton; Hazel (John) Chickness, Stellarton; June Hepsoe, Washington State, USA; brothers: Basil Dillman, Alberta; Wilfred (Ida) Dillman, Enfield; numerous nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
