WESTVILLE – Irene Mildred (Freeman) Cameron, 82, of Westville, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, February 21, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Bigney) Favier. Irene was instrumental in forming the Pictou County Day Care, sitting on the original board for several years. She loved to dance, especially enjoying the Pictou County Square Dancing Clubs. She was active in her church, participating in prayer meetings, first the United Church and later after her second marriage, the Catholic Church. After her first husband died at an early age, she proudly raised her children and was one of the founding member of Parents Without Partners. She remarried in 1979 and moved to Port Hawkesbury where she resided until 1997, returning to Westville. A very caring person and loving mother, her children and grandchildren were always very special to her. She will be missed by daughters: Mary Best (Carl), Riverview, NB; Pat Bennett (Harold), New Glasgow; Judy Hein, Woodville, Ont.; Sandra MacLeod (Charlie), Westville; son, Clarence Freeman (Linda), Westville; grandchildren: Carla Cooney, Huntley, Amanda, Alex, Ben, Paul, and Francis Best; Trevor Lees; Jacquelyn, Richard Hein; Julie Young, Chris Campbell, and Amy MacLeod; Stephanie, Jeffery, and Sara Freeman; 24 great-grandchildren, and two step-sons, Sandy and A. J. Cameron. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Freeman; and second husband, Angus Cameron; grandchildren: Vickie and Dennis Lees, Michael Hein; son-in-law, Rev. Richard Hein; sister, Violet Lacey; and brother Clarence Favier. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville, with Father Donald Boudreau officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care Aberdeen Hospital.
