Hopewell - Irene Winnifred Brown, 90, of Hopewell, passed away August 15, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Goshen, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Roddie and Mildred (Sinclair) Sutherland. She had been a resident of Hopewell for over 60 years where she was a member of St. Columba United Church and a member of the ladies guild. Irene was also a member of Silver Light Rebekah Lodge #79 Hopewell for over 50 years. Irene always enjoyed a good card game. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters: Lauretta (Joe) Landry, Stellarton; Joyce (Jim) Langille, Sunny Brae; Delia (Abe) Webber, Happy Valley Goose Bay; Debbie at home; sons: Arthur (Evie), Dartmouth; Wilson (Donna), Summerside; Delbert (Lois), Westville; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; daughter, Winnie Bell; and sister, Muriel. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from St. Columba United Church, Hopewell, with Lori Crocker, Diaconal Minister, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
