SCOTSBURN - John Robert Falconer, 73, of Scotsburn, passed away February 1, 2007, in Burnside Manor, Scotsburn. He was a son of the late Sam and Bessie (Henderson) Falconer. Born in Caribou River, he was a fisherman, stationary engineer at Michelin, and a nickel miner. John operated his own business, J.R. Falconer Fishing Supplies, for a number of years. John was a member of the New Caledonia Lodge No. 11, Pictou, and of A.A. Tatamagouche. He was also a former member of the Melville Presbyterian Church, Caribou River. He is survived by his wife, Ruth. He was the loving father of son, Mark, Grand Prairie Alberta, and daughters: Alice (Sandy) Craig, Scotsburn; Ellen (Craig) Robertson, La Glace, Alberta; Patsy (Mac) Cameron, Seafoam; Fern (Jeff MacFarlane) Falconer, La Glace, Alberta; grandchildren: Megan, Adam, Rachel, Laughlin, Liam, Aaron and Jesse; special friend Joan Henderson and her daughters. He is also survived by brothers, Gordon and Harry, and sisters: Harriet, Eileen, and Marion. He was predeceased by son, Ian Roy, in infancy, and a brother, Angus. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Alan Stewart and Rev. Donald Sutherland officiating. Burial will be at Seaboard Cemetery, Caribou River. Family flowers only and donations to charity of choice. New Caledonia Lodge No. 11 will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Saturday to conduct their service. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
