RIVER JOHN – Kenneth Roderick “Kenny” Grant - 69 It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Kenny Grant, on January 13, 2008, in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche, surrounded by his wife and family. Kenny was born in Welsford, the only child of Roy and Mary Grant. Kenny loved sports, he played hockey and was involved in showing Quarter Horses throughout Ontario, the Maritimes, and the U.S. He owned and operated his own business, Ken Grant Excavating & Trucking, until his retirement in 2004. In the early eighties he was the Superintendent of Public Works for the Town of Pictou. Ken was a member of St. George’s Presbyterian Church, serving as a member of the Board of Managers, an Elder, and a Church Trustee. He was also a director of the Pictou North Colchester Exhibition for many years. Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Marguerite (Nelson); his daughter, Kenda (at home); and his step-daughter, Sandy (Doug) Cameron, Cochrane, Alberta; grandchildren, Constable Troy Cameron (Patti), and Tracy Cameron; great-grandchildren: Julia, Thomas, and Chloe. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Edward and Myrtle Nelson. Special thanks to Dr. Rob Bush and Dale MacLellan, and the wonderful staff at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held 3-5, and 7-9 p.m. today in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John, from where funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Jeanette Fleischer officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
