NEW GLASGOW - Marguerite Elizabeth MacDonald, age 89, of Glen Haven Manor and formerly of Shelburne Street, New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, in the Manor. Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Roderick and Pearl (Gillespie) MacDonald. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and CWL. She began playing the organ at age 14, and studied at Mount St. Bernard, Antigonish. She was the organist and choir director at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church for 30 years; St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Westville; St. Gregory's Roman Catholic Church and Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by daughters: Kathy Piracha, New Glasgow; Susan (Malcolm), Stellarton; Mary Falkenham, New Glasgow; sons: Raymond (Mary), New Glasgow; Ronald, Nanaimo, BC; Richard (Barb), Dartmouth; Ross (Jennifer), Melmerby; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Sr. Mary Joan MacDonald, New Glasgow; brother: Roderick, New Glasgow. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, and an infant daughter, sisters, Helen and Dorothy, brothers, Norman, Lloyd and Doug in infancy. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 2 p.m. Wednesday from Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
