Augustine Arseneau
Augustine Arseneau (nee Roy) passed away peacefully at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes in Bathurst, NB, on February 19, 2010.
Born on July 16, 1926 in Madran, NB, she was the youngest daughter of Antoine and Anna Roy.
She lived with her family in Amherst for many years, then moved to Bathurst 19 years ago.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 64 years, Augustin Arseneau of Bathurst. She is survived by her sons and daughters, Richard (Bernice) Arseneau of Bathurst; Patsy (Roger) Howatt of Amherst, NS; Gilbert (Linda) Arseneau, Robert (Brenda), Arseneau and Theresa (Barry) Cardy of Riverview, NB; Michael (Mary) Arseneau of Stellarton, NS; Claude (Shawna) Arseneau and Betty (Jerry) MacAlpine of Lower Sackville, NS Alvin (Darlene) Arseneau of Lakeville, NB; Gary (Sonji) Arseneau of Dartmouth, NS; and Roger Arseneau of Toronto, ON. Also survived by one sister, Yvonne (late Delphis) Godin and one brother, Gerard (Marguerite) Roy; two sisters-in-law, Evelyne (late Joseph) Roy of Petit Rocher, Zelica (late Germain) Roy of Windsor, ON; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will remember her tenderly, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Patrick and Raymond; two sisters, Valida, and Marie; and seven brothers, Émile, Rhéal, Nicholas, Emerique, Germain, Joseph and Orphir.
Augustine loved her family best of all. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was known for her ever-present smile. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and her beautiful blankets continue to warm many.
Visitation will take place at Verret’s Funeral Home in Nigadoo, NB, today, February 23, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Église Saint-Polycarpe in Petit Rocher, NB, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 11 a.m.
