GREENWOOD – Beverly “Joyce” (Stonehouse) Sloan, 81, of Greenwood, Pictou County, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at her home. Born in Oxford, she was a daughter of the late Cassie Marie Stonehouse. Surviving are a son, Mark (Kelly) Sloan, New Glasgow; a granddaughter, Erika Sloan; a grandson, Jared Sloan; a brother, Doug, Oxford; sisters-in-law: Viola MacLean, Stellarton; Helen Flowers, Barrie, Ontario; Doris Perrin, Oxford; and Virginia Stonehouse, Oxford; a brother-in-law, Richie Sloan, New Glasgow. She was predeceased by her husband, George ”Bud” Sloan; brothers, Wallace and Seymour. There will be no visitation by request of the family. A graveside committal service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Millvale Cemetery, Millvale, Cumberland County. Donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Pictou County SPCA or to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
