
ALICE TUPPER MACKENZIE
MACKENZIE, ALICE TUPPER Died at York Manor, Fredericton, NB on July 26, 2002. Born in Bridgewater, NS, she was the daughter of Henry Taylor Ross and Alice Laura Tupper. Alice grew up in Ottawa and Toronto. She attended Moulton Ladies College in Toronto. She then trained at Toronto General Hospital, receiving her RN in 1929. In 1935, she married Dr. Graham Stewart MacKenzie, living in Montreal until 1937 when she moved to Fredericton where Graham had accepted a position as Head of the Department of Geology at the University of New Brunswick. The closely knit and stimulating faculty life at the university brought Alice many close and lasting friends. The last of her generation - Alice was predeceased by her husband Graham; brothers Bruce, Allan, Henry and Donald Ross; and her sisters Ruth (Thistlewaite) and Marjorie Ross. She is survived by sons Dr. Ross MacKenzie (Judith Kimber), Oakville, ON and Blake MacKenzie (the late Dr. Harriet Stewart), Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Catharine (Trent Morris), Susan, Graham, Christine and Drew, all of Toronto; and great-grandchildren Claire, and Gillian Morris and Aidan Brennan, all of Toronto. Special thanks to Annie and others who provided care to Alice while she lived at home, and to the staff at York Manor for their cheerful and devoted care over the past few years. There will be no funeral service. Burial will be in Fredericton.
