JAMES (JIM) E. WILSON

WILSON, JAMES (JIM) E. James (Jim) E. Wilson, son of the late Harold and Myrtle Wilson, passed away peacefully at home on July 10th surrounded by his family. He was born in Fredericton on July 31, 1937. Jim was a strong community supporter, a Life Member of the Kinsmen Association; past Deputy Governor for the Atlantic Provinces, past Senior Counselor with the United Commercial Travelers and a faithful member of St. John's Anglican Church. Jim was involved in family businesses in early years being employed with Hawkins Fruit Company and later joining his brother in Wilson Builders Ltd. In 1987 he was elected as the Liberal MLA for Fredericton North and served two terms from 1987 to 1991 and 1995 to 1999. The highlight of Jim's political career was the construction of the Leo Hayes High School, as he had always been a strong advocate for a Northside high school. Jim loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting, his fifth wheel trailer excursions and gardening; for which he was known for his beautiful roses . Jim is survived by his wife Mary (Brown), son Tim( Angela), daughter Janice (Jurgen) and two grandchildren, Megan and Jesse; two brothers, Jack (Irma) and Donald (Doreen), one sister Barbara Hawkins and several nephews and nieces. Predeceased by brother in law Warren Hawkins. Visitation will be from York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton NB on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2pm from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating Remembrances may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church Building Fund, Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to the Extra Mural nurses who made it possible for Jim to be at home, as well as Dr. Sid Grant and Dr. Giovannoni for their care.
