DONNA DIANNE PURDY

PURDY, DONNA DIANNE At home in Fredericton, on November 8, 2008 with her family and loving husband by her side, Donna Purdy went to be with her Lord after a strong and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lockeport, NS on June 25, 1946, she was a daughter of Edith (Roache) Bain and the late Aubrey Bain and wife of Rev.Harlyn Purdy. Donna was a Dental Assistant, as well as an Office Administrator for her husband throughout the years in his ministerial parishes. Most important to her was that she was mainly able to be a stay at home mom, so that she could give her family the love and care they needed. She was a member of Evangel Assembly on Maple Street. She was also a Credential Holder with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. She participated in various church ministries and music groups. She was also very active with the children's and women's ministries. Donna was an avid gardener and took great pride in seeing life blossom all around her. She followed her husband, as senior pastor serving many parishes throughout the years. Island Gospel Tabernacle, Clam Point, Shelburne Cty., NS, Cross Roads Tabernacle, Montague, PEI, Causeway Pentacostal Assembly, Port Hawkesbury, NS, Calvary Temple, Charlottetown, PEI, West Pembroke Pentecostal Assembly, Bermuda, Evangel Assembly, Fredericton, NB, and serving briefly at Bear River United Baptist Church, Bethel Tabernacle, Glace Bay, NS and Glad Tidings, Moncton, NB as associate staff person. Surviving are her husband of over 38 years Harlyn; children, David Swaine (Joanne) of Courtice, ONT, Meghan Purdy of Fredericton; five grandchildren, Mary Jane, Michael, Trent, Merrissa, and Jeffery; her mom, Edith Bain; sister, Sarah Williams (Peter) of Bridgewater, NS. Visitation will be held at Evangel Assembly on Maple Street, Fredericton, NB, beginning Monday November 10, 2008 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be held from the church on Tuesday November 11, 2008 at 2 PM with Rev. Doug Moore officiating. Internment will take place in the Town Point Cemetery, Yarmouth NS on Wednesday November 12, 2008 at 3 PM. For those who wish memorials, may be made to the Evangel Assembly Church Building Fund. Donna's life was marked by a kind, gentle, selfless service to others. Her gift and example of love and service remain with all who knew her.
