99 Sydney Albert Joseph Doyle, Sydney, passed away at home on Saturday. Earthly birthday, February 5, 1909 heavenly birthday, June 7, 2008. Born in Whiteside, Richmond County, he was the son of the late Dan and Agnes (Wilson) Doyle. Joe was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of Branch 138, Royal Canadian Legion. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. He was also a member of the Carpenter’s Union, Local No. 1558 for over 60 years. He retired from the Dept. of National Defense, Sydney Radar Base, where he worked for more than 30 years. Joseph was a long time member of St. Theresa’s parish, Sydney. He is survived by sons, Aubrey (Marjorie) Sydney, and Blennis, Calgary; daughters, Ann Marie (Jim) Whitney, Mira and Elaine (Paul) Carabin, Dominion; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a special niece, Grace. He was predeceased by his wife, Rachael in 1983 and also by sisters, Mary Emeline, Mary Hayes, Mary Lilly, and Clare (Kean) and brothers, Jack, Bill, Edward, and Tom. Visitation for Mr. Doyle will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George Street, Sydney. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
