J. ANTONIN FRIOLET

FRIOLET, J. ANTONIN - J. Antonin Friolet, born Bas Caraquet, N.B., May 29, 1918, passed away unexpectedly October 16, 2002. Antonin (Tony) began his professional life as an educator, but joined the RCAF in 1941. Though trained as a pilot, he served as bureau chief for military/public relations in which capacity he encountered leading figures of governments and cinema. It was then he wrote "Wings of Glory/Gloire." In civilian life, his many positions included: comptroller at N.B.E.P.C., administrator of Kent County, Bathurst District Medical Health Officer, executive assistant to various members of the provincial government and provincial interpreter/translator. Antonin also published two books: "Caraquet, Village au Soleil" and "Victor, Fils de Provence". He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris (Greening) and his daughter, Rita. He is survived by his wife, Marie Gabrielle Durand-Foxonet (Bas Caraquet), two daughters, Carole Linda Raymond (Quispamsis) and Patricia Spencer, wife to Joseph (Saint John), five grandchildren: Brent Raymond (San Francisco), Curtis Raymond (Bermuda), Rita Millett (Saint John), Bryan Raymond (Saint John), and Michelle Raymond (Fredericton). He is also survived by four sisters, Hedwidge (late Eymard Haché) of St Sauveur, Gemma (late Ovila Brousseau) of Québec, Edmonde (Adrien Gagnon) of Madawaska, Maine, Jeanine (Gilles Gallien) of St-Bruno, Qué, three brothers, Gérard (Amanda Lanteigne), Louis-Philippe (Diana Lanteigne) and Fortunat (Valérie Arseneau) all of Bas Caraquet, one adopted brother, William (Antonine Morais) of Laval, Qué., and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place Monday October 21, at four o'clock at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church of Bas Caraquet, resting at the parlor of Church Saint Paul of Bas Caraquet, where visits will occur Sunday, October 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 and Monday October 21 from 2p.m. till departure for funeral at 4 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Institute for the Blind or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.Arrangement by Racicot Funeral Home, Caraquet NB.
