71, Sydney It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Thelma MacKeigan, 71, of Sydney, who passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at her residence. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Russell) Lilly. Thelma was employed with the Metropolitan Stores, K-mart, and owned and operated Mira Road Dairy (1974). Thelma was an avid bingo player at the Membertou Bingo. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Dianne (Ron) Hunt, Howie Centre, Connie (Brian) MacKeigan-Beach, Calgary; son, Todd (Sue), Calgary; sisters, Elizabeth (Laurie) Landry, Ontario, Greta (D.K.) MacLeod, Sydney, Mary (Reg) McCormick, P.E.I.; special aunt, Greta Wheeler, Newfoundland; three granddaughters, Amber Hunt, Calgary, Brittany (Quinn) Hunt, Calgary, Maddissen Beach, Calgary; one great-grandson, Conner Brown, Calgary. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and they will miss her dearly. She will also be greatly missed by her best friend, Cathy Willet, her many friends and bingo buddies. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Elmer, sister, Alice, and brother, Billy. There will be no visitation per Thelma’s request. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Saturday, July 5 at 11 a. m., with the Rev. Arthur Nash officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the funeral home.
