78, Reserve Mines Leo Patrick Roach, 78, of 84 Official Row, Reserve Mines, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2008, surrounded by his family, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Reserve Mines, he was a son of the late David and Mary Helen (Doucette) Roach. Leo was employed with the Dominion Coal Company and DEVCO for 37 years. He was a former Chief and longtime member of the Reserve Mines Fire Department. He also served on the board of directors of Reserve Mines Credit Union. Leo loved to spend many hours at home working in the garden; and was an avid Montreal Canadians fan. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Irene (Gallant) Roach and three sons, Omar (Debbie), Curtis (Anne) and Terry (Rhonda). He is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer, Kyle, Adam, William and Adison; by sisters, Annie Murphy, Pauline (Ricky) Hinchey and Leona DesRocher; brothers, John and Ronald. He was predeceased by brothers, Norman, Harry, Dan Joe and John Cecil and a sister, Lucy Olive. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday, August 14, 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. The family extends special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
