75, Doyles, Newfoundland With heavy hearts and great sadness, we the brothers and sisters of John Sidney announce the passing of our dear brother Jack at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, Newfoundland, on Aug. 9, 2008, following a lengthy and courageous battle. Born in Port Credit, Ontario, on May 24, 1933, he was the son of Leonard and Edna Sidney. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Dorothy, his sons Glen (Linda), Oregon, USA, David (Gail), Winnipeg, Man., stepson Dorman (Cathy), Pasadena, Newfoundland, brothers Bill (Irma), Sydney, N.S., Leonard (Myrtle), Dominion, N.S., and sister Eleanor (Leo), Mississauga, Ont. John was a former member of the Royal Canadian Navy, having served in many locations in both Canada and the USA. Upon leaving the navy, he resided in Sydney, N.S., for a time before moving to Newfoundland where he operated Scottish Aluminium Products in Corner Brook for many years. John will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and his strong personality. Remembrances may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
