WHEELER, ALEXANDERNIA M. - Rena MacLeod Wheeler was born Alexandernia MacLeod Grant, daughter to Alexander Grant and Flora MacLeod, in Polglass, Scotland, June 6, 1922. During the Second World War she met her sweetheart, the late Harold Stewart Wheeler and moved to Canada. Settling in Nova Scotia, they raised four daughters. Those daughters hope to carry on her legacy. Evelyn Wheeler of Wolfville, NS; Dr. Carolyn Dean with husband Bob Dean of City Island, NY; Dr. Andrea Canty with husband Ryan Green of Saint John, NB and Chris Wheeler with husband Ken Lawson of Kamloops, BC. Rena treasured her three grandsons Deron Deneau of Calgary, AB; Erik Deneau and wife Jennifer of Oromocto, NB, Conor McKibbon-Green of Saint John, NB and one precious great-grandson, Mitchell Deneau of Oromocto, NB. Mum shared many wonderful times with her sister, Jessie Pyke of Scotland and is remembered fondly by her sister Rhoda Gebbie of England. Jack and Mabel MacMenemy and Donna MacQueen of Nova Scotia have been special friends and surrogate children for many years. She helped unite and bring out the best in people. To the end, Mum maintained her dignity, her wit and her special thoughtfulness. She faced leukemia the way she faced life; with integrity, humour and purpose. We will celebrate her life through a memorial service held from Foundation United Baptist Church, Porter's Lake, NS on Saturday, September 27th, 2003 at 1 p.m. Following the graveside committal a time of tea and reminiscing will be held at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, NS.
