64, New Waterford John Michael 'Farmer' MacNeil, 64, of New Waterford, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at New Waterford Hospital. Born in Iona, he was a son of the late John Frank and Georgina (Beaton) MacNeil. John Michael was a painter by trade who enjoyed all types of music, playing cards, and socializing with family and friends at his home. He was also known for his love of tinkering around cars. Surviving are his common law spouse, Carmella Conrod; stepdaughters, Jeanne (Vance) Clarke, Newfoundland, Bernadette, New Waterford; stepsons, Danny (Susie) Conrod, New Waterford, Jimmy Conrod, Vernon, B.C.; brother, Eoin (Camilla) MacNeil; sister, Mary Georgina MacNeil, both of Moncton, N.B.; stepgrandchildren, Vicki, Danni, Blake, Hope, Brett, Deionne, Cally, Cooper; several neices, nephews and friends. John Michael was predeceased by brothers, Francis, Alexander 'Sandy', and Duncan; sister, Louise DeCoste. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass to celebrate John's life will take place Monday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Agnes Church with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow. There will be a luncheon held at the family's residence on 768 Forsythe St., New Waterford immediately following the funeral mass.
