FURSE, BARBARA ELIZABETH (ROSS) - At the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre, Hampton, on January 6th, 2004, widow of the Late Peter Reynolds Furse. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on September 25th, 1898, she was the youngest daughter of the Late Senator James Hamilton Ross of London, Ontario, and Barbara Elizabeth (McKay) Ross of Tyron, Prince Edward Island. Barbara was very active in the Antiapartheid movement in South Africa and deeply involved with social justice and the environment. She is survived by six daughters; Pamela Roberts of Perth, Australia, Joan Trompeter of Durban, South Africa, Virginia (Peter) Ross of Cape Town, South Africa, Ann Andrews of Saint John, New Brunswick, Katherine (John) Hooper of Hampton, New Brunswick, and Elizabeth (John Platt) Furse of Hillsboro, Oregon, U.S.A. and by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren, Andrew Ross and Christopher Darroch. ?? Friends and family are welcome to a memorial gathering at the Dr. V.A.
