1934-2008 Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph McDonald, age 73, of Holland Street, Reserve Mines. Joe passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John Dan and Cassie (McDonald) McDonald. Joe was employed with Devco working at No. 26 colliery. He was a member of Glace Bay and Reserve Mines Pensioners Club. He was an avid sports fan enjoying hockey, baseball and bowling. Joe will be sadly missed by his companion, Regina (Cameron) Farrow; his special daughter, Paula Farrow and Regina’s children; his sons, John (Paulette), Kevin (Sheila); daughter, Sheila (Peter) Power; two cherished grandchildren, Sarah and Kenzie; sisters, Jennie Bond, Minnie Livingstone and Helen (Weldon) Cameron. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by brothers, Alex and Archie, sisters, Pat Callaghan and Mellie Nickelo Visitation for Joseph McDonald will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, 2-4 p.m. with a funeral service to follow in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Bill Rankin officiating. Cremation will follow with interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
