JAMES ERNEST 'JIM' HOWIE

HOWIE, JAMES ERNEST 'JIM' - The death of James Ernest 'Jim' Howie, husband of the late Dora Vilinda (Jeffrey) Howie, occurred on June 19, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, NS, he was the son of the late James and Maude (Spencer) Howie. During high school he was very active in sports and received numerous awards. He served with the Canadian Airforce during WW II and was made an airforce instructor after returning from overseas. He was employed as Chief Sales Clerk and an actor with Associated Screen News in Montreal. He moved to Virginia where he was employed as a sales representative with the Double Envelope Company. While in Virginia he served on the vestry of both the Church of the Messiah in Highland Springs, and the Church of Our Savior in Sandston and was a member of the Masonic Order. Moving to Saint John he was employed as a salesman with Guilfords Ltd. before his retirement. He is survived by his daughter Linda Howie of Rothesay and a niece and nephew. Following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), the Prayers of Committal will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at 1:30 PM Fernhill Cemetery.
