MURDOCH GERARD KING

KING, MURDOCH GERARD - 86 years of age, of Amherst passed away on Monday, October 18, 2004 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center. Born in St. John, N.B. he was a son of the late Fred and Molly (O' Brien) King. Murdoch was Manager and Vice President of Elmac Insulation. He later worked in Frobisher Bay for the Northwest Territories government in Economical Development. Murdoch was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. During the last 20 years he spent many winters in Florida and when there enjoyed fossil hunting. He had collected many unique specimens that he later donated to the Halifax Museum and to the Fundy Geographical Museum. Murdoch was a former Amherst town councillor. He was a member of the Catholic faith. During World War II, he served with the St. John Fusiliers where he obtained the rank of Sergeant Major. He is survived by his wife, the former Melba Wilcox and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Murdoch was predeceased by a sister, Doris LeBlanc and a brother, Donald. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A private service will be held at a later date in St. John.
