Archibald (Archie) Joseph James Veno FORT LAWRENCE - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Archibald (Archie) Joseph James Veno age 73, of Fort Lawrence (God's Country), N.S. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in Moncton Hospital, Moncton, N.B. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Edmund and Grace (Gould) Veno. Archie served in the Canadian Armed Services as a Peace Keeper in Middle East in his younger years. After his military career he became an industrial welder where he worked at Robb Engineering and later as a Vocational Welding Instructor at Dorchester Penitentiary, NB. He was then employed as Commissionaire at Highland View Regional Hospital. He had a passion for cooking and worked at various locations in the Amherst area before his semi retirement employment at the Nova Scotia Tourism Bureau. His pastime was consumed with his love for his children, grandchildren and his loyal dog and friend Patches. Archie also enjoyed playing dart along side his wife and many friends. Archie and his love of life and everyday humour will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife and best friend the former Nellie (Dolly) MacKay, six daughters Barbra (Alan), Sherry (Mike), Teresa (Brian) all of Amherst, Diann (Bernard) of Bathurst, NB, Sandra (Dirk) and Marlene (Colin) both of BC and son Preston (Shay) of Amherst, fourteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson Jeffrey. There will be a celebration of life service at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev.
