DR. DENNIS GERARD THERIAULT

THERIAULT, DR. DENNIS GERARD - The sudden and unexpected death of Dr. Dennis G. Theriault of Peterborough, Ontario, loving husband of Betty (McCullum), occurred on July 5, 2006. Born in Charlottetown, PEI on March 11, 1955, he was the much loved son of Rita Anne (Chiasson) Theriault and the late Dr. John C. Theriault. Dennis was an Honours graduate of Rothesay Regional High School in 1972, attended UNB and completed his Bachelor of Science degree while receiving his Medical Degree from Memorial University in Newfoundland. Upon completion of a two-year residency in family medicine, Dennis established a practice in Springhill, Nova Scotia. Subsequently, he obtained a specialization in anesthesiology from Dalhousie University and was affiliated with the Canadian Military Services in Lahr, West Germany in the late 1980s. Upon returning to Canada, he continued to practice anesthesiology in Halifax, Berwick and Truro, Nova Scotia. Early in 2000 he and Betty made their home in Peterborough, Ontario where Dennis continued to serve in the medical community until his untimely death. Active as both an enthusiastic participant and spectator in sports, Dennis derived immense pleasure from hockey, football, scuba diving, baseball, bicycling and squash. The pilgrimage to see his beloved Montreal Canadiens with family and friends was a much-anticipated, annual highlight for Dennis and those fortunate enough to be with him. Dennis was a caring and dedicated husband, father, son, brother and uncle, and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. He is survived by his wife Betty, stepson Jonthan (Guylaine) McCullum of Dartmouth, NS; his mother Rita of Halifax, NS; five brothers: John of Big Bras D'Or, NS, George (Dina) of Quispamsis, Jim (Carol) of St. John's NL, Bill (Bette) of Rothesay and C.P. (Ruth) of Rothesay; three sisters: Chris (Steve) Zinder of Ithaca, NY, Eva Landry (Marty Martin) of Pembroke, ON and Michelle (Michael) Kingston of Darlings Island; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His family will be celebrating his life with a memorial service that will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Rothesay, at 11:30a.m. They hope that you will join them at a reception immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Dr. David Stephen Memorial Foundation Inc., the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
