DOWNEY, WILLIAM D. - The death of William "Bill" Duff Downey of Saint John, NB, beloved husband of Noreen (Doucet) Downey, occurred on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Kennebec Manor. Born in Halifax, NS on November 3, 1928. Bill was employed with the Canadian Coast Guard for twenty-five years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Peter's Parish and loved his children and grandchildren. Besides his wife, Noreen, he is survived by his two daughters, Christine Downey of Grand Bay - Westfield, NB and Michele (Christopher) Downey-Dunham of Quispamsis, NB; three grandchildren, Hunter , Kyle and Caytlin Dunham; a special niece, Susan Chaisson and family; and other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Kennebec Manor. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter's Church, Clarendon Street, Saint John on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 11 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
