ROSE ROBIN

ROBIN, ROSE - Rose Robin (Galbraith) passed away quietly at home on December 17th, 2008; she loved and was much loved by all those who knew her. Rose was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, May 4th, 1927 to Walter and Edith (Cunningham) Galbraith. She graduated from Saint John High School in 1944. She then trained as a lab technician (haematology) at Saint John General and joined the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service. She spent several years in Halifax, Hamilton, Ottawa, and Esquimalt (BC) with the Canadian Naval Reserves as a Sub-Lieutenant in training. She then left the Navy and began work as a lab technician at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster (BC). She then moved to Shaughnessy Military Hospital where she met a young intern, Dr. E. Peter Robin. They were married on January 11th, 1957. Rose and Peter resided in White Rock (BC) from 1957 till January 2004 when they moved to Duncan, BC. Rose is survived by her husband of almost 52 years, Peter; her three children, John (Janis), Janet, and Joan and her grandchildren, Ashleigh, Chrissy, Katie (Adam), Vicki, Tracy, Peter, Heidi, Jenny, CJ, Duncan and Claire and her great-grandchildren, Alix and Marcus. She is also survived by her sister Eleanor Galbraith and numerous cousin's, relations and friends across the country. She was greatly loved and will also be missed by the many international students she and her husband Peter "adopted" over the years. A service was held December 23rd, 2008 at St.Andrew's Presbyterian in Duncan, BC. She is buried at Hatley Memorial Gardens, Victoria BC. Rather than flowers Rose has requested that donations be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or St Andrews Presbyterian Memorial Fund in Duncan BC.
