Jennie Hennessey 71 who resided at Miner's Memorial Manor passed away on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Florence, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy (Greenwall) Ferguson. She was a member of St. Pius X parish in Sydney Mines. Jennie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a heart of gold whose home was open to all.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Brenda (Maurice) Goguen, Winnipeg; sons, Stanley, North Sydney, Blair, Dartmouth, and Michael (Laura), North Sydney. She is also survived by sisters, Helen (James) Shaw, Margaret (John) MacLean, Sydney Mines, Florence (Morris) Harvey, Kentville, Betty Jean Ferguson, B.C. Colleen Rose, Sydney and brothers, George (Audrey) North Sydney, James , Glace Bay, Earl (Judy) Newfoundland, John, B.C., Kenny (Rita), B.C. and David, Ontario. Also left to mourn are grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathon, Mitchell, Blake, Matthew, Joshua, Aiden, Lucas and great grandson, Kolby.
Besides her husband, Stanley, she was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred and Robert and by sisters, Shirley and Annie Ruth.
Visitation for the late Jennie Hennessey will take place Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church with Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
