Babs Rogers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at the Cove Guest home, Sydney.
Born in Sydney in 1918, she was a lifelong resident of Westmount. Babs graduated from Sydney Academy and continued her education at Teacher’s College. A teacher who dearly loved her students, she taught in Westmount and surrounding areas.
Babs was a very active person, participating for most of her life in badminton, golf and many other sports. With her partner, Alaire Kerr, she won numerous badminton tournaments. In her later years, she enjoyed travelling with family and friends.
Babs is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Paul; daughter, Lynne Dunn, Saint John, N.B.; son, John (Janice), Lunenburg, N.S.; daughter-in-law, Claire, Blackett’s Lake; seven grandchildren, Natalie, Jill, Craig, Paul, Stephanie, Deanna and Adrian; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Dell; parents John and Lenora Jane MacPherson; sisters, Jessie, Abbie, Dot, Aggie and Beta.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday 2 p.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
