WALKER, EDGAR ROSS - (August 23, 1938 - October 25, 2009) - The death of Edgar Walker of Main Street, Aroostook, NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, October 25th, 2009 at the age of 71. Ed was born in South Tilley on August 23, 1938 to the late Thomas E. Walker and Muriel (Brooks) Giberson. Until his retirement, Ed worked as Plant Manager for McAsphalt Industries in Andover. Ed graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and worked for many years in a variety of technical fields. Ed was a past-president of, and named a Paul Harris Fellow by, the Perth-Andover Rotary Club. He was also a member of Benjamin Lodge #31. He also served on the Aroostook Village Council. Ed was avid golfer and he curled for many years. He loved the outdoors; he was a farmer at heart. He enjoyed reading and was a wonderful conversationalist; he could talk about anything and loved a good debate. Ed had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh. He loved his dog, Brandi. Ed is survived by his partner, Paulette DeMerchant; four children, Christie (Michael), Tom, Mark and James and four grandchildren Hailie Carr, Danielle Walker, Mallory and Connor McDonald, all of Saint John; Paulette's children, Paulette (Jay) Canam, Lorie (Jeff) Grant and Corey (Hope) DeMerchant and grandchildren, Ashley, Amber and Dylan; his sisters, Alice Howe of Saint John, Dorothy Crabbe and Barbara DeMerchant of Fredericton as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edgar is resting at White's Funeral Home 20 Industrial Park St. Perth-Andover with visitation on Friday, October 30th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 31st at 11 am from White's Funeral Home Chapel to be followed immediately with a reception celebrating Edgar's life at the Anglican Church Hall in Andover. A private interment will take place later. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Southern Victoria Cancer Fund or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
