Shirley(Davis) Coffin, 68 died February 16, 2009 in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
Born in the Gaspésie, Québec, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Dufresne) Davis.
Shirley received her education at B.A. Dalhousie University,1989; B.Ed. Mount Saint Vincent University, 1991; M.Ed. Mount Saint Vincent University 1997 and M.Ed. Mount Saint Vincent University 2001.
Shirley moved to Bathurst, N.B. in 1964 where she began her married life with her husband Bryce Coffin. This is where they raised their four daughters and made life-long friendships. In 1979, she moved to Nova Scotia with her family where she continued her post-secondary education. Shirley had a passion for teaching. She became a dedicated, caring and concerned educator. Besides her enthusiasm for learning, she had a passion for music, dance, song, literature, travel and the sun. She was respected and loved by her family, friends, co-workers and students. She spent her last days at home surrounded by her loving husband of 44 years and family.
As Shirley often said, “Carpe Diemâ€, (Seize the day).
Survived by husband, Bryce Coffin; daughters, Tina (Robert) Crowell, Shelley (Joe) Rudderham, Susan Coffin (Robert Kenney), Natalie (Bill) Muise and 11 grandchildren; also many cousins, aunts and uncles.
To everyone who cared for Shirley in one capacity or another, to everyone who sent cards, phoned, made meals “Thank You/Merci Beaucoupâ€.
Visitation will be held February 18, 2009, 7-9 p.m. at T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, Bedford, N.S. Funeral/memorial services, Feb 19, 2009, St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Bedford, 10:30 a.m. Fr. Pat Cosgrove officiating. Interment will take place in the Spring 2009 in Gaspe, Quebec
