It is with heartfelt sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Eva D. Poirier (Madore) on Sunday, February 15, 2009; ‘at home’ 1 Gordon Street, Glace Bay.
Eva was a daughter of the late Victor and Mary Grace Gilmet. She resided in Barrie, Ont. for 41 years, working in the restaurant business before returning to Glace Bay four years ago.
She is survived by her children, Yvonne (Albert) Stoodley, with whom she resided, Gordon (Louise) Madore, Cambridge, Louise (Doug) Stewart, David (Mary) Madore and Wanda (George) Fluney, all of Barrie, and Terry (Diane) Madore, Port Severn; 14 grandchildren: Jean Marie Thompson, Lee Ann Woodman, Cambridge, Donna Campbell and Melissa King, Glace Bay, Brian Stoodley, Lantz, Doug Mercer, Chilliwack, Joseph Mercer, Barrie, Mark Madore, Texas, Kim Madore, Port Severn, Crystal Rose, Toronto, David Jr. and Michael Madore, Barrie, Allysa and Claire Fluney, Barrie; 16 great grandchildren: “Grannie†to Mitchell, Joshua, Noah, Nicholas, Jonathan, Mya and Tyler; “Nan†to Caleb, Maddie and Katelyn, Katie, Gregory and Bradley, Tyler, Ivy and Benjamin; 4 great, great grandchildren: Gregory Jr., Spring, Ethan and Skyla; brothers, Wilfred, Glace Bay, William, Hamilton; sisters, Rose (Harold) Kinslow and Shirley Aucoin both of Glace Bay and Joyce (Bob) McDonald, Winnipeg.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Lamille Madore and second husband, Hubert (Ted) Poirier; brother, Roy; sisters, Alma Moore and Joan Moore; daughter in-law, Edie Madore and son-in-law George Mercer.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay. There will be no visitation or funeral service.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the “homecare girlsâ€, Dr. Kajetanowicz, Dr. Hobbs, Heather Skinner and the Palliative Care team; and the VON for making mom’s remaining days more bearable -“A special group of people who truly show compassion and caring for the whole familyâ€.
