Blake Oulton
Blake Oulton BATHURST, NB - Blake Oulton , 83, of Basin Street, Bathurst , died Tuesday (April 30,2002) at the hospital after a brief illness. Born in Cape Spear, NB, he was the son of the late Enzor and Alice (Strang) Oulton. He served as a Major with the North Shore Regiment during World War II . He was past president and member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He was a Commanding Officer of the North Shore Regiment from 1960 to 1964. He later became an Honorary Colonel. He was on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires; Past Grand Master and member of the Masonic Lodge St. John F&AM #27, Bathurst. He was the first president of the North Shore Shrine Club. He was the recipient of the 33rd Degree Honorary Inspector General in the Scottish Rite. He was a graduate of Mount Allison University and a past Counselor for the City of Bathurst. He worked for the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club and he was a member of the First United Church, Bathurst. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Irene King. He is survived by two sons, Stephen Oulton of Bathurst, Phillip Oulton (Cynthia) of Surrey, BC; one daughter, Cathy Lavigne of Port Elgin, Ont.; six grand children; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Alan in 1966. The body will rest after 7:00 pm at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral service will held on Saturday morning at 11:00 am from the First United Church, St. Patricks Street. Burial will be in the United Cemetery, Bridge Street. A Legion service will be held on Friday evening at 7:30pm and a Masonic service will be held at 8:00 pm from the Funeral Home. Visitation on Thursday 7 to 9 and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Shrinners Crippled Children Fund or a favorite charity.
