Benjamin Joseph Simon

Benjamin Joseph Simon 1957-2003 ELSIPOGTOG, N.B. - Benjamin Simon, a noted musician, as well as composer, painter, and computer photoartist from Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick, passed away recently after suffering an accidental injury at his apartment. Ben was born and raised in Big Cove, now known as Elsipogtog. He became interested in music at the age of 5, and was playing professionally by the age of 15. He spent a lot of his time on music, giving guitar lessons, performing studio work as a guitarist for other musicians, and working on his own musical projects. He also enjoyed working as a computer photo-artist and found many projects to keep him busy in that area as well. In his passing, Ben will be missed by family, friends and the wider community. He is survived by his children, William, Loretta, Jonathan, and Mackenzie. As well, he is survived by his mother, Sarah Francis; his brothers, Bill Simon, Luke, Rubin, Marcel, Conrad, Byron, Adam and Jesse; his sisters, Dolores Sock, Brenda Simon, Berrni, Pamela, Colleen, and Heather. He is predeceased by his father, William John Simon Sr.; his brothers, Jesse John Simon, Roger, and Lorne; and by his sister, Marsha. Remains are resting at his mother's home in Elsipogtog. Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, December 18, 2003 at 2 pm. Arrangements in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto.
