Gerald A. Gill DOUGLASTOWN, NB - The death of Gerald A. Gill, husband of Mary (Vickers) Gill of Douglastown occurred Thursday, February 26, 2004 at the Moncton City Hospital at the age of 81 years. Born in Barnaby River, NB, he was the son of the late Patrick and Clara (Murphy) Gill. He attended St. Samuel's Roman Catholic Church, Douglastown. A former member of K of C. Gerald received his BA from St. Thomas University in 1946. He was employed as a Stationery Engineer in the Pulp and Paper Industry until he retired. Gerald will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of family, his interest in cars (especially Fords) and his generous volunteer spirit. Gerald devoted countless hours to assisting at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home and delivering Meals on Wheels. Besides his wife Mary of 55 years, he is survived by one daughter, Colleen Jokinen (Edward), Burlington, ON; two sons, Barry (Mary), Thunder Bay, ON, Gerard (Maria), Winnipeg, MN; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Derek and Paul Jokinen, Christopher, Andrew, Geoff, Michael, Jessica, Maria Gill; one great grandson, Tyler Jokinen; four sisters, Carmel English (Raymond), Miramichi, Joan Silliker, Barnaby River, Patricia Hackett, Barnaby River, Theresa Regan, Miramichi; two brothers, Joe Gill, Barnaby River, Patrick Gill, Winnipeg, MN. Predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Clement Gill and Donald Gill; two sisters, Mary Mahoney and Ursula Regan. Mr. Gerald Gill rested at Davidson's Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, March 1, 2004 from St. Samuel's Roman Catholic Church with Father David Martin officiating at 10 AM. Organist and Soloist was Jacqueline Allain. Hymns were "Shelter Me-O God", "Whatsoever You Do", "I Am The Living Bread", "Amazing Grace", "Songs Of The Angels", "On Eagles Wings". Other Clergy in the Sanctuary were Father Broderick, Father King, Father Sullivan, Father McGrath. Active Pallbearers, Mike Svarc, Ryan Jokinen, Edward Scott, Paul Mahoney, John Gill and Lloyd Carter. Burial will take place in St. Samuel's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements in care of Davidson's Funeral Service Ltd. 622-7464. Family Owned - Family Operated.
