Garnet B. Black

Garnet B. Black HAVELOCK, NB - Garnet Bernard Black of Havelock, NB, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Moncton Hospital, a result of an accident which occurred at his residence. Born August 9, 1922 in Cherryvale, Queens Co., he was a son of the late Rufus and Laura (Corey) Black. A retired farmer, he was also a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be fondly remembered for his great love of horses, and also for being called upon many times during his farming years, to offer assistance to neighboring farmers with their ailing animals. In the past he had served as President of the former Havelock Cheese Factory and also had been a member of the Buckley Settlement Grasslands Association. Garnet is survived by his six children: two daughters, Claudia Ogilvie (Dale) of Hillgrove, Petitcodiac and Carlene Black of Apohaqui; four sons, Bernard (Rochelle), Brian, Roger (Valerie) and Glen, all of Havelock; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Corey (Archie) of Lower Ridge and a brother, Claude of Centerville and by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rose (Sept 2003); an infant daughter, Brenda Rose; brothers, Lawrence and Ford; sisters, Bernice Keith, Erma Silk, Marguerite Hanson and twin sisters, Juanita Corey and Geneva Boron. Resting at the Havelock Funeral Parlour, 19 Cross Street (534-2600) with visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral will be held from The Salisbury Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 29 at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Hatt officiating. Interment in Greenhill Cemetery, Havelock.
