GREEN - Dr. Gerald Robert Green, age 78 years of Shaunavon, SK, passed away March 7, 2009, at The Herbert and District Integrated Health Facility, Herbert, SK. A private interment service of his cremated remains will take place at a later date. He is survived by Shirley-Anne Green (nee: Hobbs); his children: Judy, Tom, Sandra, Diana, and Marjorie; his grandchildren: Matthew, Clinton, Rebecca, Jenna, Jayme, Jessie and Abby; his sister, Katherine Lancaster (nee Green) of Longview, Texas, USA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents: Walter and Isobelle Green of Shaunavon, SK; and a sister Isobelle Johnston (nee Green). Gerald was born in Shanavon, SK, March 16, 1930. He attended school at Shaunavon, SK, The University of Saskatchewan and Queen's University. He was united in marriage to Shirley-Anne Hobbs, in Ottawa, ON. He was a well known doctor in the Shaunavon and area. He was a member of the College of Physicians and Surgens, the Masonic Temple and the Poet's Club of North America. His special interests included writing children’s books, writing poetry, and as a musician playing the clarinet and saxophone medicine. "Doc" to his friends and family is remembered as a wonderful and generous father. He loved people from all walks of life and was a good friend to many. His honesty, kindness, and generosity have been instilled into his children and grandchildren. He has left us all a wonderful legacy of love.
