Mr. Earl Francis Gouchie MIRAMICHI, NB - Mr. Earl Francis Gouchie of Hill St., Miramichi, passed away peacefully following courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 77. He was born in Chatham, NB the son of the late Stephen and Anne (Barry) Gouchie. Earl was a man of great faith, love for his family and true friend to his many. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator since childhood, retiring from the former Town of Chatham Public Works Department. He was a past member of the North Shore Regiment Band, Royal Carlton York Band and the Chatham Town Band. His greatest enjoyment was sharing with his grandchildren their many interests and his words of wisdom. He dabbled in woodworking and spent many hours tending to his garden, flowers and trees. Dad will never be forgotten by his loving wife, Vesta (Wilson) Gouchie; sons, Michael (Jean) Gouchie of Miramichi, Bill Gouchie, Kirk (Tammy) Gouchie of Miramichi; daughter, Shelley (Stephen) Cobb of Miramichi; grandchildren, Andrea (Gouchie) and Shane Quigley, Jeff Gouchie, Genna and Gillian Gouchie, Adam and Emily Cobb, Miranda and Tyler Gouchie; great granddaughter, Desiree Quigley; brother, Joseph Blair Gouchie; sisters, Anne Dyson of Ontario, Ormal Orr of Quebec, Mabel Taylor of Quebec; Vera Ruiter of Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by his brothers, Vernon and Everette (James) Gouchie; sister, Rita Gouchie. Visitation with family and friend will be held at Maher's Funeral home Miramichi on Tuesday, July 31st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 1st at 11am from St Michael's Basilica with Fr. John Fraser officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
