Annie Hazel Blair, 92, of the Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro, passed away March 10, 2009, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro
Born in Noel Shore, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Ada (Reid) Hill.
Hazel was an active member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro, and the A.M.S. She loved Jesus, and being part of her church family was of great comfort to her. An accomplished seamstress, she was also a former Explorer Leader.
Hazel was very proud of her family, and is survived by daughters, Patricia (Jack) Cowan, Pictou; Deborah (Joe) Weakland, Altoona, Pennsylvania; grandsons: John, Daniel, and Blair Cowan, Joseph Weakland; great-grandchildren: Kinder, Tristin, Preston, Cameron and Jack; sister-in-law, Lillian Hill, Selma.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being predeceased by sisters: Lena Hinchcliffe, Alice McLeod, Emma Aalders; and brothers: Albert, Ralph, Roy, and twins in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday from McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Dr. Brian Ross officiating. A reception will immediately follow in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Hall, Pictou. Interment will be at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro.
The family wish to extend thanks to the Mira Care workers, and to the staff in Emergency and 3 North at Colchester Regional Hospital.
